Jeep Australia has announced two limited-edition Grand Cherokee large SUVs, which bring several interior upgrades along with exterior styling additions.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Limited model is priced at $71,450 and marks the return of the brand's 5.7-litre HEMI V8 (259kW/520Nm), of which 100 units will be offered in Australia.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Overland is limited to 120 vehicles and is pegged at $82,950 and is powered by the brand's 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine (184kW/570Nm).
Both models have a 3500kg braked towing limit, are fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels, tinted brake light clusters, dual black chrome trapezoidal exhaust outlets and and upgraded leather interiors.
On top of the exterior upgrades mentioned above, the S-Limited Jeep GC gets an SRT performance sports bonnet, gloss black roof rails and mirror caps along with a black grille, all of which signify the return of the Jeep's 5.7-litre HEMI V8.
It's offered with only two colour choices, Bright White or Diamond Black.
'Heritage' leather trimmed seats combine with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and 'liquid titanium' interior highlights to add more wow-factor to the cabin.
Jeep says the limited edition model adds $15,000 worth of customer value for $8500.
Jeep Grand Cherokee S-Overland
The more expensive S-Overland Jeep GC features premium LED fog lights, a granite crystal fascia and premium accent cladding for the wheel arches, side skirts, plus the front and rear bumpers.
Inside the S-Overland adds SRT seats with black Nappa leather upholstery and perforated suede inserts and door cards. The doors and instrument panel also get black timber 'spears' and a 19-speaker, 825W Harman Kardon audio system with subwoofer.
Jeep reckons the S-Overland model adds around $9000 worth of extra value for a $4500 premium.
"We’re thrilled to offer two new limited edition Jeep Grand Cherokees giving customers a choice of either a more premium, refined and fuel efficient option with the S-Overland 3.0L V6 diesel or a high performance model with the S-Limited HEMI V8 engine," said Guillaume Drelon, Jeep Australia director of brand and product strategy.
Sales of Jeep vehicles have flat lined in Australia over recent years. In 2014 the brand recorded 30,408 annual sales but in 2018 the tally was just 7326 vehicles.
For the first three months of 2019, Jeep sales have dropped further 28 per cent but the brand is confident sales will lift with the arrival of the new Wrangler, which will be backed up by its first ute, the Jeep Gladiator, in 2020.
Updates to the compact Jeep Renegade are expected this year but the Grand Wagoneer seven-seat SUV is understood to be an unlikely candidate for the Australian showrooms.
