Jetour F700 dual-cab ute confirmed for Australian launch

Diesel plug-in hybrid load lugger but not before late 2027

The News

Jetour has confirmed its F700 dual-cab ute will be sold in Australia, although the diesel plug-in hybrid is unlikely to reach local showrooms before late 2027 at the earliest.

The brand says the F700 will carve out its own space rather than directly competing on price with rivals such as the BYD Shark 6.

The Key Details

  • Jetour F700 ute confirmed for Australia
  • Diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain planned
  • Launch timing remains uncertain, with delays possible
  • Jetour says it will not compete directly on price with BYD Shark 6
  • 3500kg towing capacity expected

The Finer Details

The Jetour F700 dual-cab ute is definitely heading to Australia, but key details such as exact timing and pricing remain known unknowns.

A local launch during the second quarter of next year is possible, however a fourth-quarter arrival is considered more likely.

Even that timeline may prove optimistic, with factors such as ADR compliance, supply constraints and the proximity of the G700 SUV launch potentially pushing the F700’s Australian debut back to early 2028.

The F700 was revealed this week at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, sparking talk of a head-to-head battle with the BYD Shark 6 plug-in hybrid ute.

However, Jetour International president Ke Chuandeng says the brand is not aiming for direct competition.

“The F700 is naturally a pick-up, [but] we’re not directly in competition with the [BYD] Shark, because the Shark is much cheaper than us,” Chuandeng told carsales during a round-table discussion at the show.

He added that Jetour is focused on avoiding price wars, instead highlighting technology and performance advantages through test drives, promotions and customer experiences rather than discounting.

Under the skin, the F700 is closely related to the Jetour G700 SUV but features a longer wheelbase of more than 3.3 metres.

Unlike the petrol-powered G700, the F700 uses a diesel engine to charge its battery pack and provide additional motive power.

While not yet officially confirmed, the F700 is expected to offer three differential locks, mirroring the G700’s off-road hardware, and Jetour staff have indicated the ute will be rated to tow up to 3500kg.

Also showcased at Auto China was a 6x6 aftermarket conversion of the F700, hinting at the platform’s potential for local tuning and modification, even if that specific variant never reaches Australia.

The Road Ahead

Jetour’s Australian rollout of the F700 will depend on regulatory approval, supply readiness and how closely it follows the G700 SUV’s local launch.

While confirmation of its arrival is locked in, buyers may need to wait until late 2027 or beyond before seeing the diesel plug-in hybrid ute on sale locally.
