JUKE NISMO RS confirmed for production

Nissan's quirky micro SUV gains even more firepower, in the form of the JUKE NISMO RS
A 160kW variant of the JUKE will begin selling through Nissan's dealers around the world from December.
The JUKE NISMO RS produces 13kW more peak power than the standard JUKE NISMO, and pipes as much as 280Nm through its six-speed manual transmission to the front wheels via a mechanical limited-slip differential. Buyers can opt for the same 1.6-litre turbo engine – but with 250Nm – driving to all four wheels through an Xtronic (continuously variable transmission) offering eight 'steps'.
In Britain the manual variant is priced from £21,650, on the road. For the present the JUKE NISMO and NISMO RS are not definite starters for Australia, but a decision concerning the NISMO brand for the local market is expected shortly.
"With Nissan JUKE NISMO already accounting for a growing number of all Juke sales in Europe, the enthusiasts' desire for more performance is clearly there," said Guillaume Cartier, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Nissan in Europe. "The new NISMO RS version offers just that and cements NISMO's reputation as creators of digital age performance."
Originally unveiled in Geneva earlier this year as a concept, the JUKE NISMO RS in production form will gain a revised exhaust system for a sportier note, torque vectoring (AWD only), shift paddles (Xtronic), increased torsional stiffness, new spring/damper rates, larger front brakes and ventilated rear discs in lieu of solid rotors.
Available in three colours – Storm White, Pearl Black and Blade Silver – the JUKE NISMO RS can be distinguished by a body kit, red mirror caps, 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and RS badging at the front and rear.
Sports seats are trimmed in suede with red stitching, and the JUKE NISMO RS also features sports steering wheel, pedals, gauges, gear knob and door trims.
"New JUKE NISMO RS conforms exactly to the NISMO ethos, providing an instant performance feeling in a premium design inspired by our motorsport activities. The result is engaging, exciting and accessible," said Cartier, as quoted in a press release.
