Ken Block's Gymkhana 10: Hoon heaven

After 10 years, King Hoonigan was going to need more than a blazing 1977 Ford F-150 to up to the ante

"Seriously folks, don't be an idiot. Hoon responsibly."

That's the first thing viewers will see when they hit play on the 19-minute tyre-frying, throttle-mashing, power-sliding automotive thriller that is Gymkhana 10.

If you've never heard of Gymkhana before, here's the pitch: It's a YouTube sensation that's garnered hundreds of millions of views collectively over its lifespan due to a combination of crazy cars, precision power-sliding, spectacular stunts and more tyre smoke than a Summernats tilt at the burnout world record.

F-150!

Celebrating 10 years since it all began, the Hoonigan team – headed up by DC Shoes founder and sometime rally driver, Ken Block – has raised the bar in 2018 by not only introducing the new Hoonitruck, a 628kW/950Nm F-150 ute/beast powered by a fettled twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 from the Ford GT supercar, but by including a total of five vehicles in five locations.

With a little help from Amazon Prime, the budget has clearly increased (along with the merchandise section on the Hoonigan website), because this feature trots across the globe and involves more tomfoolery than ever. Sparks will fly.

The Cossie is lit

As you'll discover in the new video, which has snaffled more than two million views in 24 hours – akin to a top-rating Aussie TV show – the 1977 all-wheel drive Hoonitruck is part of the grand finale of this long-form feature.

In total there are five cars that blitz their way across various surfaces in five locations, with more close calls than a fogged-out, flat-chat autobahn at peak-hour, and of course a bit of mirth and the odd airborne vehicle.

"I can’t believe it has been 10 years of making these Gymkhana videos," said Block.

The amount of planning that went into Gymkhana 10 is mind-boggling

"I think viewers across the globe are going to be stoked when they see all of the tire slaying action we’ve jammed into this one."

And the timing couldn’t have been better – we've even put together an homage of sorts with our own (office-bound) version of Gymkhana at the Carsales HQ. The good news is that there was only minor damage to property and persons.

Anyway, check out the vehicle selection from Gymkhana 10 below and enjoy the show!
