Peter Schreyer, the head of design for Korean car manufacturer Kia since 2006 has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Britain's Royal College of Art ('RCA').
The RCA has only awarded doctorates to two other car designers in the past, Sergio Pininfarina and Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Born in Germany, Schreyer attended the RCA at the end of the seventies, before returning to Germany to join Audi in 1980. He worked with Audi and Volkswagen for the next 25 years.
His work at Kia includes the ex_cee'd Cabrio concept (pictured with Schreyer) that made its debut at this year's Geneva motor show.
Past recipients of honorary doctorates from the RCA include fashion designer Giorgio Armani, environmentalist and TV presenter Sir David Attenborough and film directors David Lynch and Martin Scorsese.
