Koenigsegg previews new hypercar

First darkened preview suggests it could be a limited-run creation to mark two decades of CCX and CCR

Swedish hypercar-maker Koenigsegg has kicked off 2022 with a fresh teaser of an all-new model.

The shadowy image was accompanied by the caption: "Dear 2022, here's our New Year's resolution – More ultimate performance through clever engineering and optimal design. Here we go!"

There were no further details provided, technical or otherwise. However, despite appearing to be a new model, the design of the latest Koenigsegg hypercar is reminiscent of its back catalogue.

The teardrop cabin shape, wrap-around windshield and smooth surfacing are reminiscent of the Koenigsegg CC8S that was launched in 2002.

There's also a front splitter that looks lifted from the 2004 Koenigsegg CCR, rear tail-lights from the 2006 CCX and an Agera-inspired rear diffuser.

It's thought Koenigsegg may introduce a one-off (or limited-run) celebratory hypercar to mark two decades of production.

If so, it could blend its original design cues with state-of-the-art tech, such as a heavily revised version of the ultra-lightweight Koenigsegg Agera RS' carbon-fibre monocoque and an updated version of the Jesko's wild 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that, on E85 fuel, produces a monstrous 1177kW and 1500Nm.

Stay tuned, as more teasers are expected in the coming months.
