Jaguar's first pure-electric vehicle has been teased in a short video ahead of its official launch at the LA motor show.
Thought to be an SUV rather than a luxury sedan, the new full-electric vehicle is expected to be a slightly smaller version of the current F-PACE.
JLR’s EV program is being developed under the codename X590 and is believed to include a luxury five-door ‘coupe’ and an SUV – both badged as Jaguars. They will be rivals for Tesla and its Model S and Model X
Instead of focusing on maximising interior space, the new electric SUV is likely to be more of an SUV coupe with a rakish rear roofline. Later on, a five-door coupe, based on the same pure-electric vehicle architecture, will also follow.
The coupe, which is reportedly meant to sell alongside the luxury XJ saloon and potentially replace it, could be launched as soon as 2017, while the SUV is said to be due in 2019.
It's thought that both EVs will draw from the brand's investment in Formula E race series.
