Lamborghini has confirmed it will produce a convertible version of its new Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce coupe, which arrives in Australia in October priced at a cool $882,650 plus on-road costs.
Given the standard Aventador LP700-4 roadster, which is the most expensive Lambo currently available here at $795,000 plus ORCs, commands a $33,500 premium over the coupe on which it's based, the LP750-4 roadster could set a new benchmark above $915,000.
According to Autocar, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann said at the weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed that the lighter, more powerful Aventador SV is sold out and that the company was already taking orders for the roadster.
“The Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce is the most pure, sports-oriented and emotional incarnation of a Lamborghini, and all 600 units have been sold, with first deliveries starting now," he said.
"We will also produce a roadster version, which our dealers worldwide are now taking orders for.”
Naturally, the drop-top Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce will be powered by the same 552kW/690Nm 6.5-litre V12 as the coupe – up from 'just' 515kW/690Nm in the standard Aventador (from $761,500).
Presumably, just as the standard Aventador Roadster is one-tenth slower to 100km/h than the coupe, the SV convertible should hit the national highway speed limit in 2.9 seconds – 0.1 sec later than the SV coupe.
