An Italian-style tour de force at the international launch of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster has seen the host city’s airport temporarily closed for the purposes of a high-speed demonstration.
With few places legal or otherwise available to exhibit the Roadster’s colossal 350km/h top speed, Miami-Dade County Officials accommodated the Italian supercar maker’s request with special authorisation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Five new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadsters sped down the south runway of the busiest US airport for international flights, exceeding the take-off speed of passenger airliners by almost 50km/h!
The runway run was followed by an exotic, albeit more sedate exhibition at South Beach where a 50-strong vehicle parade quite literally stopped traffic. Company president and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, said the demonstration was a fitting way to launch such an exciting machine.
“It has been a great pleasure to work with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and South Beach teams on today’s amazing demonstrations,” said Mr Winkelmann. “I have never seen something similar at a Lamborghini event. The Aventador Roadster is our most exciting production car ever and I can think of no better place to celebrate its launch than here in Miami.”
