Land Rover Classic will make yet another limited run of its Defender Works V8 Trophy, but this time buyers will have the choice of a ute – although just five of the 25 it plans to make will be based on the old Defender 110 Double Cab pick-up.
All of the latest batch of re-engineered Land Rovers are said to be inspired by the 23 locations the British brand has tackled in events like the Camel Trophy and G4 Challenge, with each of the 25 cars sporting a unique commemorative camouflage.
Beneath the wrap there's Fuji White paint combined with a Narvik Black roof, plus gloss-black elements including a set of 18-inch alloys, rivets, screws and vents.
Under its satin-black bonnet, as with last year's run of 25 mustard yellow Camel Trophy-inspired Land Rover Defender Works V8s, all of the latest V8 Trophy IIs come with a Jaguar Land Rover 5.0-litre V8 pumping out a healthy 297kW and 515Nm of torque.
Matched with a modern eight-speed automatic transmission that features high- and low-ratio gearing, the latest Defender Works V8 Trophy runs permanent all-wheel drive.
Naturally, the remade Trophy also gets uprated suspension including new anti-roll bars, while the old Landie's brakes are junked for new four-piston callipers that clamp down on larger discs.
Other changes include a full-width 1.2m LED light bar, an additional rear recovery point, external roll bar, rear ladder and rock sliders, plus special white detailing on the mud flaps.
Inside, there are black and white leather Recaro sport seats and a leather-wrapped dash, doors and headlining.
Each special also features a Land Rover Trophy clock face.
In the UK, the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II has been priced from £225,000 ($A390,000) for the short-wheelbase 90 two-door.
