Leaked: Skoda’s plans to expand SUV line-up

Mystery Model K thought to be new budget SUV that will sit between the Yeti and Kodiaq

Skoda's plans to launch three new SUVs have been leaked after a slide detailing the Czech car-maker's plans to expand its model range was posted on CarNewsChina.com.

The slide, thought to have been presented at an internal Skoda event for the Chinese market, is revealing as it lists a forthcoming Model K, Model Q and a sporty Kodiaq Coupe.

According to the Chinese blog, the 'Model Q' has already been identified as the next-generation replacement for the current Yeti.

The 'Model K' SUV hasn't been identified but is rumoured to be an all-new crossover that will plug the gap between the Yeti and the larger Kodiaq.

It's not known if the larger, potentially seven-seat, rival to the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will be offered outside of China.

At the top of Skoda's SUV family will be a flagship Kodiaq Coupe that will offer not only more slippery fastback styling but far sportier styling than its more practical seven-seat sibling.

All models will be based on Volkswagen Group's versatile MQB matrix platform and come with same turbocharged petrols and diesels available in the Kodiaq.

The new SUV Coupe, meanwhile, is expected to also offer the car-maker's next-generation plug-in hybrid powertrain that will combine a V6 petrol with two electric motors.

Offering a 50km pure-electric range and around 279kW of power the sporty Kodiaq Coupe should hit 100km/h in less than six seconds.

Skoda hasn't yet officially confirmed dates of when the new SUVs will arrive but it's thought the Yeti will arrive early in 2018, followed by the Kodiaq coupe in late 2018, early 2019.

The mystery Model K, meanwhile, will follow on from the flagship SUV coupe.
