Leaked: Zeekr 7X Australian pricing and specs

Less than $70K for Zeekr's electric SUV with ultra-fast 13-minute charging and a premium equipment list

Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 beware – the Zeekr 7X is coming to Australia from around September with three variants and competitive pricing that could throw a cat among the pigeons in the mid-size electric SUV segment.

Leaked dealer documents posted to the Zeekr Australia Facebook page reveal the Chinese electric SUV will launch with three distinct variants.

Exact pricing is still unknown but the leaked documents claim the entry-level RWD model is expected to start between $65K-$70,000, featuring a 75kWh lithium-ion (LFP) battery pack that delivers 480km of range (WLTP).

Moving up the ladder, the Long Range RWD variant will command around $75,000 and upgrades to a substantial 100kWh NMC battery pack, extending range to an impressive 615 kilometres.

The range-topping all-wheel drive model, priced between $80-85,000 according to the leak, represents Zeekr's performance flagship. These prices are up to $10,000 more than equivalent Tesla Model Y variants.

The top-spec Zeekr 7X electric SUV uses the same 100kWh battery as the Long Range RWD, with the addition of a front motor, which in turn reduces range to 543km but is expected to enhance the driving experience.

The rear-drive models pack a single 310kW/440Nm motor that propels the SUV from standstill to 100km/h in a claimed six seconds – respectable but not earth-shattering.

However, step up to the AWD flagship and you enter supercar territory with dual motors delivering a brutal 475kW/710Nm combined output. This translates to a claimed 0-100km/h sprint of just 3.8 seconds, putting it in the same league as performance cars costing twice the price.

If the leaked details hold water, equipment levels will be generous with entry-level RWD variants fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, a 16-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual 50W wireless phone charging pads, heated front and rear seats, and ambient lighting throughout the cabin.

The Long Range RWD adds premium touches including a massive 36.2-inch head-up display, a 21-speaker Zeekr Sound Pro audio system, power-adjustable steering column, and ventilated massaging front seats.

The AWD flagship goes further with 21-inch wheels, orange-painted brake calipers, intelligent automatic doors, powered rear sunshades, and standard black nappa leather upholstery.

Perhaps most impressively, all 7X variants support 800-volt ultra-rapid charging architecture with up to 360kW maximum charging speeds.

In ideal conditions, this translates to 10-80% charge times of just 13 minutes for the standard-range model and 16 minutes for the larger-battery variants – making it one of the fastest-charging SUVs available.

Measuring 4787mm long, 2100mm wide and 1650mm tall with a 2900mm wheelbase, the 7X is virtually identical in size to the Tesla Model Y but offers a 10mm-longer wheelbase for marginally more interior space.

Zeekr's Tesla fighter is set to arrive around September this year with serious performance credentials and sharp pricing that could give Elon Musk's team some genuine cause for concern in the Aussie market.

Official Australian pricing and specifications are expected to be confirmed by Zeekr very soon.
