Leather deal for Subaru Impreza

Subaru sweetens its base Impreza with limited-edition, cut-price leather interior

Subaru customers opting for the base R variant have the choice, for a limited time, to score a leather-trimmed interior for just $500 over the regular price.

From April, 1000 limited edition Impreza R limited edition models will arrive in sedan and hatch, five-speed manual or four-speed auto form, starting with on-the-road driveaway pricing (RDP) for manual-transmission versions of $24,490.

The Impreza R limited edition adds leather trim to the standard equipment -- including six airbags, active front headrests and stability control -- that helps earn it a five-star ANCAP safety rating,

As with the regular version, the limited edition Impreza R comes with air-conditioning, hill-start assist (manuals only), cruise control and four-speaker CD audio, but is fitted with 16-inch steel wheels only.

The Impreza is currently Subaru's third best-selling model, a change in fortunes as sales of the new Liberty models bite and the Forester SUV continues its strong market performance. To the end of February this year, the company sold 716 Imprezas as compared to 1475 Libertys (including the Liberty Outback SUV) and1001 Foresters.

The limited edition Subaru announcement coincides with a $1000 price reduction for manual sedan and hatch Impreza R models to $23,990 RDP.
