LEGO Nissan GT-R NISMO is almost as cool as the real thing

Nissan's latest GT-R NISMO gets the full LEGO treatment, features legendary red and white livery and big aero

Can't afford the $378,000 plus on-road costs for the 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO? Well Danish toy-maker LEGO will offer GT-R fans the next best thing from January 2020, when kids and grown adults alike will be able to buy a blocky tribute to the real deal.

Said to be aimed specifically at children, the new LEGO Speed Champions Nissan GT-R NISMO consists of 298 individual pieces but, when it's assembled you'll see plenty of design cues lifted from the full-size Nissan GT-R.

These even include the flagship NISMO's race car-inspired aero and carbon-fibre roof and bonnet, plus a set of lightweight alloy rims.

The model also sports the trademark red and white NISMO livery that's used on everything from high-performance versions of the Nissan Note to the LEAF and 370Z.

Despite its complexity, LEGO says an expert builder should be able to assemble the LEGO GT-R in just 20 minutes.

Prices are yet to be announced but expect the latest toy-size GT-R NISMO to cost a tiny fraction of the actual car, although the model does lack the real thing's neck-snapping 441kW and 652Nm, all-wheel drive, six-speed dual-clutch and hypercar-hunting tendencies.
