The Lexus RX SUV is getting a kick along with two new variants joining the range.
Previously available in just the one ('Luxury') level of trim, the turbocharged, four-cylinder RX 200t is now offered also in F Sport and Sports Luxury grades. This matches the V6 RX 350 and hybrid RX 450h, both of which are already marketed in the three grades.
RX 200t models feature the same standard equipment specification as the respective trim levels for the RX 350 and RX 450h. By choosing the new turbocharged models, buyers can enjoy the added comfort and convenience of the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades at a saving of $7170 over the RX 350 and $15,620 over the RX 450h.
Styling cues – a sports grille and bumpers and unique alloy wheels – distinguish the F Sport variants from Luxury and Sports Luxury models, irrespective of the drivetrain option. The mid-range model also comes with a panoramic view monitor and LED headlights with adaptive high-beam system, LED tail lights and sequential LED front and rear indicators. Inside, the RX 200t F Sport also gains sporty front seats, steering wheel (with shift paddles) and pedals not fitted in the basic Luxury grade.
The sports-tuned adaptive variable suspension and Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management system are fitted as standard, as are the 12.3-inch display screen, 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, colour head-up display, smart key card, rear passenger door sunshade and aluminium film ornamentation are also additional to the Luxury specification.
The flagship Sports Luxury grade is fitted with unique alloy wheels (featuring titanium-coloured inserts), 14-way power-adjustable luxury front seats with driver and passenger memory function, power-folding and heated rear seats, leather and woodgrain steering wheel and laser-cut aluminium wood ornamentation.
Lexus has introduced the new variants with a new exterior colour reserved for F Sport models, Cobalt Blue.
As is the case for the carry-over Luxury model, the RX 200t in F Sport and Sports Luxury trim is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 175kW and 350Nm. Driving through a six-speed automatic transmission, the engine consumes fuel at the rate of 8.1L/100km in combined-cycle testing.
"The expanded RX line, with its focus on style, technology, equipment and safety, broadens our offering with progressive new models in this important and dynamic segment," said Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor.
