Lexus celebrates 30 years in Oz

No special-edition models or big celebration, just a nod to its success as a luxury brand Down Under

Lexus will celebrate its 30th anniversary in Australia this year, but in subtle Japanese style it’s not making a song and dance about it.

Instead, Lexus Australia is saying thanks to the loyal customers and dealers that have kept the prestige marque afloat throughout the years, and celebrating some of the great machinery we’ve been treated over three decades.

Some of those include the hybrid V8-powered Lexus LS 600hL, the spectacular RC F Track Edition and, perhaps most notably, the $700,000 LFA supercar.

And then there’s Lexus’ most recent lavish addition that will arrive here later this year at a cool $250,000 a pop, the LC 500 Convertible. You can check out our exclusive sneak peak of it here.

The luxury brand owned by Toyota says its customers have embraced electrification more than any other luxury brand, with one quarter of its vehicles sold between 2006 and 2020 being hybrids.

Along with announcing it would expand its Encore owner benefits program earlier in the year, Lexus is proud to remind us it’s been favoured by luxury car buyers in terms of customer service and support five times in the last six years, according to independent research company Roy Morgan.

"Lexus understands that luxury customers want an appreciation of the finer details that make them feel understood, and create an authentic luxury experience to match the finely crafted vehicles they drive,” said Lexus Australia boss Scott Thompson.

"This unwavering commitment has allowed Lexus to grow in Australia, so we thank our Japanese artisans who create exactingly crafted products, our loyal Lexus customers for the trust they have placed in us - and our Lexus dealerships who consistently deliver industry-leading customer care."

Lexus also announced this month that its first fully electric vehicle, the UX 300e, will come with a million-kilometre (or 10-year) battery warranty.

And, what does the future hold for Lexus?

Well, it says we can expect more new technology – including autonomous driving systems – and more engaging luxury vehicles.
