The boss of Lexus Australia Tony Cramb says the Japanese luxury brand will bounce back after a slow start to the year.
Sales of all Lexus vehicles are down by 8.9 per cent in a market that dipped by only 1.6 per cent in the first two months of the year.
Lexus also took a beating in February – down 15.6 per cent compared to the same month the previous year.
And its two most popuar models – the IS250 sedan and RX350 softroader – are both down by more 31 per cent so far this year.
"It's not a tough start to the year," Cramb told the Carsales Network at the media preview of the CT200h hybrid hatch in Melbourne this morning.
"What you're seeing is a comparison to the previous year's figures which were abnormally high as a result of the investment allowance from the previous year."
Lexus hopes that the new hybrid hatch will give the brand a much needed sales boost.
The CT200h is the most affordable Lexus model in the line-up, starting at $39,990.
"We expect the CT200h to be our third biggest volume seller, and all models are under the luxury car tax," said Cramb. "This car will definitely round out our sales and also introduce us to new, younger customers."
