Limited-edition Jeep Grand Cherokee Upland released

Uprated version of American luxury SUV limited to just 44 examples

Jeep has announced a special-edition version of its best-selling SUV that adds almost $7000 of value for half that much.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Upland, limited to just 44 examples in Australia, is based on the mid-spec Grand Cherokee Laredo.

Priced from $61,450 before on-road costs and in showrooms now, the Upland is available in just two exterior colour choices – Bright White or Diamond Black.

It’s also fitted with an uprated version of the Laredo’s 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel offering 184kW/570Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Off-road capability on-par with the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is thanks to a Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system that’s paired to a two-speed transfer case, allowing for both high- and low-range four-wheel driving.

There’s also a range of bits exclusive to the Upland, including ‘Desert Sky’ blue interior stitching and exterior badging, exclusive 20-inch five-spoke black alloy wheels with Jeep centre caps and Goodyear All-Terrain Wrangler tyres.

The Upland also gets gloss-black grille rings, roof-rails, side mirror caps, fog light and tail-light surrounds, lower front applique and 4x4 badge.

In the tech department, it’s fitted with an 8.4-inch touch-screen display with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring are also standard.
