A very exclusive addition to the Maserati Quattroporte range is head for our shores.
The Maserati Quattroporte GTS Gransport Nerissimo edition is limited to a worldwide production of 50 cars only, of which five are set aside for Australian buyers.
Priced at $371,900, the Nerissimo edition is mechanically identical to the standard Maserati Quattroporte GTS Gransport – down to the 390kW/650 Nm output from the 3.8-litre V8 – but is enhanced with plenty of black carbon-fibre trim, piano-gloss black accents, 21-inch gloss-black 'Titano' alloy wheels and anodised red brake calipers. Maserati has specified a shiny black finish – Nero Ribelle – for the sheet metal, and the carbon-fibre trim can be found on the door handles, exterior mirror shells, B pillars and front/rear splitters. The grille, bumpers and rear diffuser all feature piano-gloss black inserts.
Inside, the black treatment continues, with 12-way power-adjustable front sports seats trimmed in premium black leather featuring red stitching and a red embroidered trident – the company logo – on each headrest.
The logo also appears on the door sills and shift paddles. A carbon-fibre-trimmed sports steering wheel and Alcantara headlining are also fitted as standard. In the centre console a plaque reveals each car's individual build number out of the 50 units manufactured. Rear passengers have their own switchgear and vents for the multi-zone climate control.
Along with the introduction of the Nerissimo edition, the Maserati Quattroporte range has been updated for 2018, starting with the Quattrporte S, which is now powered by an upgraded 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, producing 321kW and 580Nm.
Adaptive LED headlights replace the bi-xenon lights fitted previously. Other changes include soft-close doors, electrically-assisted steering and Integrated Vehicle Control – a more sophisticated stability control system that adjusts engine torque and brakes to pre-empt loss of grip.
"From its debut in 2013 until the first quarter of 2017, the flagship Maserati sedan has been delivered to 31,400 customers in 69 countries, making it the best-selling Quattroporte in history," said Glen Sealey, COO for Maserati Australia.
"The Quattroporte has achieved this through grand touring luxury with pure Italian elegance, and race-bred style with excellent craftsmanship down to the very last detail. For 2018 these achievements are enhanced with more performance, technology and features that enhance its exceptional position in the market place that will continue to draw clients to a car that is exclusive, sophisticated and unique."
