Lower priced 2025 Lexus NX450h+ Luxury PHEV arrives

Lexus has introduced a more affordable 2025 Lexus NX450h+ AWD plug-in hybrid for Australia, that's scheduled to arrive in dealers this September, priced from $84,500 plus on-roads (ORCs).

Undercutting both the BMW X3 xDrive30e ($104,800) and the Volvo XC60 Plus PHEV ($92,990), the new plug-in Lexus will slip into the range beneath the NX450h+ AWD F Sport that currently costs $96,000 plus ORCs.

As part of the model line-up rejig, Lexus says it has dropped the cheapest non-hybrid 2.5-litre four-cylinder NX250 Luxury, leaving just the NX350 AWD F Sport ($79,450 plus ORCs) as the only petrol-only option.

While the NX350 produces 205kW, the new NX450h+ pumps out a more muscular 227kW from its petrol-electric 2.5-litre and comes with the bonus of an 18.1kWh lithium-ion battery that, when fully charged, provides for an all-electric range of up to 87km.

Thanks to the extra two e-motors and all-wheel drive, off the line, the NX 450+ AWD the mid-size SUV launches from 0-100km/h in just 6.3 seconds.

Topping up the battery, meanwhile, is via an AC charger and plug-in to a wall box, and the electrified NX charges at up to 6.6kW, with a full charge taking 2.5 hours.

Within, the entry Luxury trim comes with heated and ventilated leather seats with eight-way adjustment, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and go, a wireless smartphone charger, 360-degree view camera and a powered tailgate, plus the brand's latest driver-assist tech.

If that's not enough gear, it's a $11,500 step up to the NX 450h+ AWD F Sport that adds adaptive dampers, selectable driving modes, 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlamps, sports seats and steering wheel and an F Sport body kit.

Lexus says more details of the new Lexus NX450h+ Luxury will be revealed closer to its local introduction this September.

The Lexus remains a success story for the premium Japanese brand in Australia with the carmaker already shifting 3080 NXs in the first six months of this year – 6 per cent up on this time last year, making it the brand’s best-selling model.
