Audi has teased its all-new Q9 upper-large SUV for the first time, giving the world an in-depth look at the seven-seat wagon’s interior and a brief glimpse at its camouflaged body ahead of its global debut on July 29.

Due to debut in “around two months”, the Q9 will take over from the Q7/Q8 twins as Audi’s premier flagship SUV and look to cross swords with the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
These first teaser images preview a large, square body clearly intended to maximise interior space for the six or seven (maximum) occupants, with the driver and front passenger set to be enveloped in technology.
The dash is ruled by the tri-screen ‘Audi MMI panoramic display’ while the centre console features dual 100W wireless charging pads and two fast-charging USB-C ports, the surrounding surfaces finished in either leather or carbon-fibre – other finishes, like wood, will be available.

All three rows of seating are power adjustable, the fronts being heated, cooled, massaging and memory-based, while the third row is electronically stowable.
All three seats in the middle row can accommodate a child seat, with access made easier by the optional power-opening doors and connected services.
The illuminated panoramic roof will offer adjustable tinting/selectable opaqueness across nine segments – Audi says the laminate is so effective, a traditional sunblind is no longer needed.
The seats themselves can be upholstered in fabric, alpaca fibre, Dinamica microfiber, leather, leatherette blends and Nappa leather, and will come in a range of colour options.

We’re yet to see anything concrete surrounding the Q9’s powertrain options but examining the wider VW Group, it’d make sense for the familiar twin-turbo V6 petrols, V8 and plug-in hybrid systems to all find their way under the bonnet.
All will be revealed in the coming months as the clock ticks down to the global reveal.
Odds are we won’t see the Q9 in local showrooms until 2027.
