Maserati simplifies its model range

Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte line-up standardised for MY22, with three trim levels in each

The Maserati Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte are being standardised for MY22 in Australia with the same three trim levels offered across each model line: GT, Modena and Trofeo.

Reaching showrooms in the final quarter of 2021, the MY22 series will drop variant names such as GranSport, GranLusso and GTS, as well as the Hybrid tag on the Maserati Ghibli that will no longer see its 48-volt mild-hybrid system confused with a full-blown hybrid powertrain.

On that front, entry-level GT grades for both the Ghibli and the 2022 Maserati Levante will be powered by the 246kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid assistance.

The 2022 Maserati Quattroporte GT will use a 261kW 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, which will also power mid-series Modena variants of the Ghibli and Levante.

A more powerful 320kW version of the 3.0-litre V6 will be available with new ‘Modena S’ variants of Ghibli and Levante, and will also be fitted standard on the Quattroporte Modena.

Highlights for the GT variants include standard 18-inch alloy wheels (Ghibli and Levante) – or 19-inch on the Quattroporte – as well as chrome exterior inserts and leather comfort seats.

The latter are upholstered in Dark Mirror trim for Ghibli, Black Piano for Levante and Radica for Quattroporte.

Features that set sporty mid-spec Modena grades apart include 20-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, sports bumpers with piano black inserts at both ends, and sports leather seats.

High-performance Trofeo models will continue to be powered by a 433kW Ferrari-sourced 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 which sends power to the rear wheels in both the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans, or all four wheels in the Levante SUV.

Trofeo variants also bring 21-inch alloy wheels, carbon-fibre trim, red brake callipers and full-grain Pieno Fiore leather sports seats.

All three new trim levels bring the updated Maserati logo on the bonnet, which first debuted on the Maserati MC20 supercar, as well as a new trident logo on the C-pillar and updated rear lettering.

The infotainment unit of each will also feature the new Maserati lettering.

Maserati Australia says further details and pricing will be announced closer to the MY22 series’ arrival later this year.
