Mazda Australia has joined the growing number of car brands offering connected services on their vehicles, along with a corresponding smartphone app.
Available now on the App Store and Google Play, the MyMazda app forms part of the wider Mazda Connected Services (MCS) suite rollout commencing soon with the local release of the updated 2024 Mazda MX-5.
The latest versions of Mazda’s peppy sports car will come fitted with an eSIM and an emergency SOS button integrated into the windscreen surround between the sun visors, with MCS automatically contacting emergency services after a collision.
Eight functions will be offered from launch, the other seven comprising stolen vehicle assist (vehicle tracking), vehicle status and health monitoring, remote locking and flashing lights, vehicle locator, driver alert and parental control, geofencing and manufacturer communications (service reminders, recall notifications, etc).
Although only the updated MX-5 can offer all these services (for now), the app can still be paired or linked with other Mazda vehicles, “giving owners easy access to a comprehensive owner’s manual search function, an online service booking tool, prior service history and integration with roadside assistance”.
“Already renowned for our commitment to Jinba Ittai, we’re now going one further with an array of genuinely valuable services that create a deeper sense of connection between drivers and their vehicle, even when they’re not behind the wheel,” said Mazda Australia digital innovation boss Callan Jolly.
Away from the practical tech launch, the new MX-5 will offer revised looks, sharpened throttle response and handling, more noise and new colour combinations.
