Mazda Australia has officially confirmed the CX-6e electric SUV for local launch, set to arrive as the second electric model built in partnership with China.

Like the 2026 Mazda 6e electric sedan due on sale in the second quarter of the year, the new CX-6e crossover comes as the result of a technical partnership between Mazda and Chinese car giant Changan (Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd).
Based on the underpinnings of the Deepal S07 – a model already sold Down Under from $53,900 (plus on-road costs) – the related Mazda CX-6e will likely gain the same treatment as the 6e sedan, including a European suspension setup fine-tuned here in Australia.
Completely restyled compared to its Deepal sibling, the 6e is also promised to arrive with much-improved (and less intrusive) driver assist aids, which we expect to be carried over to the CX-6e SUV.
Powertrain specifications are yet to be locked in, however, the Deepal S07 delivers 160kW/320Nm outputs from a rear-mounted electric motor, and around 475km of driving range from an 80kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Meanwhile, Mazda already sells the CX-6e in Europe, where it’s uprated to deliver 190kW/290Nm, offering up to 300 miles (482km) of driving range from a 78kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery.
It also delivers a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.9 seconds.
Other equipment likely to be carried over includes a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 14-speaker Sony sound system.

The CX-6e's 4850mm long and 1935mm wide dimensions sees it slot in between the CX-60 and CX-80 SUVs in the Japanese brand’s line-up.
Mazda Australia’s managing director Vinesh Bhindi said confirming the Mazda CX-6e for the Australian market is a monumental moment for the brand, adding yet another hugely compelling option for our customers and expanding our multi-solution approach.
“The design is bold and striking, bringing a new evolution of the Kodo Soul of Motion philosophy that Mazda customers know and love,” Bhindi said.
“And when you pair this unmistakable craftsmanship with the acclaimed Jinba-Ittai driving dynamics and cutting-edge technology, it’s clear that this is not just another EV, it’s a Mazda through and through.”
Mazda Australia says it will reveal pricing and local specifications closer to the electric SUV’s arrival.
