Mazda offers lifetime capped-price servicing

Mazda Service Select to rationalise car maintenance prices on all vehicles

Following the adoption of the Mazda Service Select scheme for its popular Mazda3 small car, the importer has rolled out the revised arrangement across its entire line-up.

All Mazda models now offer a capped-priced service system, which replaces the previous six-month or 10,000km required service intervals with 12 month or 10,000km intervals, whichever comes first.

The first service on a 2.5-litre Mazda6 petrol model costs $296, while the fourth service after four years or 40,000km, is $387.

Unlike most capped-price car service routines, Mazda Service Select lasts for the entire life of the vehicle. In a press statement Mazda asserts no other company offers such a scheme, but Subaru recently launched its own capped-price servicing that lasts the lifetime of the vehicle, and goes one step further by applying retrospectively to vehicles from 2006 onwards.

Both service schemes have the potential to improve the retained and resale value of Subaru and Mazda vehicles by offering set price servicing for the life of the vehicle, whereas most other car brands' fixed-price service regimes last between three and six years.

In 2013, vehicle survey authority JD Power rated Mazda as delivering the best servicing experience of any car brand in Australia, followed by Toyota, Subaru and Honda.

Mazda Australia's managing director, Martin Benders, said the feedback from customers and dealers was "encouraging" after the initial Mazda Service Select was rolled out with the new Mazda3 in February 2014.

"With Service Select now available across the entire current model range those customers can rest assured that servicing their vehicle will now be better aligned with their actual vehicle usage while also providing excellent value for money and ensuring your vehicle is maintained in peak condition," said Benders.

The total cost of vehicle service intervals on all Mazda cars can be found at Mazda Service Select website.
