A lighter, faster, more extreme McLaren 750LT is primed to be launched at the Geneva motor show this March that will offer hypercar-levels of performance.
Based on the current 720S, according to
, the new flagship for the 'Super Series' is likely to be named the '750LT' to reflect a bump in power from the standard car's 720hp (530kW) to a more muscular 750hp (552kW).Like the most recent 600LT, the 750LT is expected to shed around 100kg from its kerbweight, thanks to a new exhaust system, ultralight alloy wheels and plentiful use of new more exotic materials.
With less mass and more power from the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, an optimised faster shifting version of the 720S' seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, we expect the 750LT to hit 100km/h in around 2.5 seconds and have stronger in-gear acceleration.
Top speed, is not likely to increase much from the 341km/h the 720S is capable of on account of new aerodynamics that generate more downforce at high speed.
It's not known what innovations the British supercar-maker is planning but it's thought the 750LT could feature a largely redesigned body that, as well as a slighter longer tail, could employ more active aerodynamic elements.
Following its potential unveiling at the Geneva motor show, the British car-maker is almost certain to offer a Spider version.
Expect a healthy premium over the $515,080 (plus on-roads) McLaren currently charges in Australia for the 720S Performance.
