Mercedes-AMG and Will.I.Am create new sports car

US pop star teams up with Benz for wild creation that looks to blend G-Wagen with AMG GT 4-Door

Mercedes-AMG and Will.I.Am have begun teasing an all-new one-off that appears to combine the face of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class with the body of a Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door.

Set to be revealed in full on May 5, the new teaser on Instagram suggests the bizarre sports car will apply styling cues from the rugged Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the rear-end styling from the AMG GT 4-Door.

Other unusual features of the Will.I.Am-AMG creation include what appears to be a pair of suicide doors and SLR-inspired front fenders.

Beneath the skin, the wild modified four-door sedan is expected to be based on the mighty Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance that combines a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with AMG's latest plug-in 'P3' hybrid system.

Combined, the electric super-sedan produces a monstrous 620kW and 1470Nm of torque.

According to the US rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, who is most famous for being one of the founders of music group, Black Eyed Peas, said the motivation behind creating the unnamed one-off was creating "a car for Mercedes-AMG that will help fund inner-city school engineering programs to prepare our youth for a technological tomorrow”.

That suggests the car will be auctioned off post-reveal, with all proceeds going to charity.
