Mercedes-Benz has unveiled three more plug-in hybrids to join its European range: the CLA 250e coupe, CLA 250e Shooting Brake and GLA 250e.
Due to originally be unveiled at this week’s now-cancelled Geneva motor show, the trio was revealed online on Tuesday morning.
Sadly, none of the three will be coming to Australia, a spokesman confirmed. It is understood right-hand drive availability is the key reason, though it couldn’t be confirmed.
Instead, Australia will get the new A 250e plug-in hybrid hatch and sedan by mid-year, joining the existing plug-in E-Class, C-Class and GLC-Class.
Under the bonnet of the CLA 250e coupe, CLA 250e Shooting Brake and GLA 250e is a third-generation hybrid system comprising a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, 75kW electric motor and 15.6kWh battery pack.
All told, the hybrid driveline generates 160kW and 450Nm, offering a total electric range of between 64km and 79km depending on model.
Acceleration times likewise vary depending on model – hovering between 6.6 seconds to 7.1 seconds in the all-important 0-100km/h dash – however all three share the ability to charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about 25 minutes when using a 24kW fast charger.
The new models can be charged using alternative current (AC) or direct current (DC) infrastructure.
The CLA 250e coupe, CLA 250e Shooting Brake and GLA 250e are set to go on sale in Europe later this month.
