It feels like déjà vu, these photos landing on the motoring.com.au desk show the new Mercedes-Benz SL undergoing more hot-weather testing, almost 12 months after a heavily camouflaged mule was spotted in the US.
Dropping much of the heavy padding used to diffuse the shape of the new coupe-cabriolet, the car was seen testing alongside an Aston Martin Vantage Roadster and new Jaguar XK, evidently for benchmarking purposes.
Said to be lighter than its predecessor – thanks primarily to the extensive use of carbon-fibre -- the new Mercedes-Benz SL will feature a smattering of Benz powerplants, including a revised 3.5-litre V6 (petrol) and 4.6-litre bi-turbo V8.
The new SL is due to launch later this year with most sources indicating a Frankfurt Motor Show debut is imminent.
