Mitsubishi Pajero Sport upgraded

Rugged Pajero Sport family SUV gets enhanced safety and cosmetic features for a little extra

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV has been upgraded for the Australian market with the inclusion of adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking (AEB) as standard on all models.

Prices for the 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport start at $45,500 for the five-seat GLX. This represents a price rise of $500. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport range tops out at $53,650 for the Exceed seven-seat variant – up $650.

A new variant has been added to the range – the mid-spec Pajero Sport GLS five-seat model at $48,500. Previously it was only offered as a seven-seater, which adds $1000 to the price. See below for full prices.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport comes standard with radar cruise control

New additions across the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport range – comprising GLX, GLS and Exceed models – include two extra USB ports accessible by the second-row occupants. They match up with two existing USB ports in the centre bin for front-seat occupants, while a new 150W/220V three-pin plug has been added.

The 120W socket has been moved to the rear of the central bin and all 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport models now get "a new soft trim along the console sides, adding to driver and front passenger comfort”, according Mitsubishi.

The updated Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV is powered by an unchanged 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine good for 133kW/430Nm. It’s the same engine used in the popular Mitsubishi Triton ute, on which the five-door wagon is based.

New interior trim and more USB ports are part of the 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport update

All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.

Entry-level Pajero Sport GLX models get new-look 18-inch alloy wheels while the top-shelf Exceed nabs a tailgate spoiler.

Sales of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport have idled in the first two months of 2018. They are down slightly to 1174 from same period in 2017, where it recorded 1183 sales.
