Mitsubishi teases two new medium SUVs

The new models are thought to be based on the Renault Symbioz and Scenic E-Tech

Mitsubishi has teased two all-new SUVs ahead of their reveal in 2025 and confirmed one to be a hybrid while the other is battery-powered.

Just a singular image of the pair has been released so far, showing them hiding under sheets alongside some of Mitsubishi Europe’s current models.

It’s thought the car on the left will be closely related to the Renault Symbioz that was revealed back in May to sit above the Renault Captur in the French firm’s line-up.

If true, the new unnamed Mitsubishi will measure in at around 4.41 metres long and sit on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance's CMF-B platform.

In Europe, the new Renault comes with a 108kW hybrid centred around a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, two small electric motors and a compact 1.2kWh battery capable of averaging around 4.6L/100km.

The next model is thought to be Mitsubishi's take on the latest Renault Scenic E-Tech and should be based on the same CMF-EV architecture as the Megane E-Tech as well as the soon-to-be-launched Nissan Ariya.

Odds are the Japanese clone will measure in at around 4470mm long, 1864mm wide and stand 1571mm tall.

Two single-motor powertrains are likely to be offered: a 125kW/280Nm version with a 60kWh battery and sportier 160kW/300Nm variant with a bigger 87kWh battery.

The two new models will feature a Google-powered infotainment system and more than likely come with Renault’s latest driver assist tech, though there’s no word yet if either are on the cards for Australia.
