The Gosford Classic Car Museum, on the Central Coast of New South Wales, will conduct its inaugural auction on Saturday, October 28.
Pickles, the auction house running the show, has amassed around 70 classic cars – all of which are up for sale. Among those vehicles are a 1988 Porsche 959, a 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III, a 1966 Aston Martin DB6 and a 1968 Lamborghini Miura. All four are very collectible, but the auctioneer believes someone in the crowd could walk away with a classic for as little as $50,000.
Museum founder, Tony Denny, hints that the vehicles are being auctioned to make floorspace available for new additions to the collection.
"We’re thrilled to open our doors to the world for one night only, in what is one of Australia’s largest car auction this year," Denny was quoted saying in a press release.
"Selling off 70 of our classic cars is no easy feat; however, it is essential we make room for the exciting new collections that we have waiting in the wings. We can’t wait to see familiar and new faces on auction night!”
The museum will auction a Formula Vee on the day, with proceeds from the sale of the race car to be donated to Kids in Need, a New South Wales organisation supporting six local charities helping kids in the region. There's a sad backstory to the Formula Vee however; the previous owner lost his life to cancer in 2016.
Admission to the event costs $25 a ticket, but bidders unable to attend in person can place bids online. Full details of the lots available can be viewed at the website.
