More generous service program for Renault vans

French brand’s LCV range now comes with five-year capped price service program with roadside assist

Renault Australia has announced a new servicing program for its light commercial van range, including the Kangoo, Trafic and Master.

From July 1, all three of the French manufacturer’s vans will come with a five-year ‘Easy Life’ service program (up from three years), which now also includes up to five years of service-activated roadside assistance.

That brings Renault’s van range up to speed with its competitors, including the Peugeot Expert, Hyundai iLoad and the new Mitsubishi Express (which is based on the Trafic), all of which five-year service programs.

It also beats the popular Toyota HiAce, which only offers a three-year capped-price service scheme, and doesn’t include roadside assistance (it’s an extra-cost option).

Service pricing for the Renault Kangoo 1.2-litre petrol costs $1247 for the first three years and $2365 for five, while the diesel is slightly cheaper at a respective $1477 and $2605.

Meanwhile, the Renault Trafic costs $1797 over three years and $3695 for five years, if you’ve got the 1.6-litre (single or twin) turbo-diesel. If you go for the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, servicing costs the same $1797 for three years, but $400 less ($3295) over five years.

Finally, the Renault Master van costs $1797 to service for three years and $3655 for five years.

Renault Australia aftersales manager Matthew Wright said the brand carefully reviewed real-world owner servicing behaviour to establish an appropriate service program for each nameplate.

“Our data shows Kangoo owners average around 18,000km and it now comes with a five-year/75,000km capped price service plan with a 12-month/15,000km service schedule – regardless of fuel type – that is among best in class,” he said.

“When it comes to the Trafic, our numbers show that Trafic owners crisscross our cities around 25,500km per annum. With class-leading service intervals of 12 months and 30,000km, it means you could complete two full laps of mainland Australia before having to book in for a scheduled service.”

Wright said the capacious Master van had proved itself a road veteran in Australia, with the average owner racking up 30,170km of travel each year.

“With its 12-month/30,000km service schedule, it means you could run a return trip Sydney to Canberra every week for an entire year before needing to book in with one of Renault’s 57 dealers for a capped price service.”

Wright said the new Renault Easy Life service plan was engineered with small business owners in mind and built upon the success of the program launched in November 2019 on Kadjar and MY20 Koleos.

“Working with delivery drivers and small business owners we know they choose our vans for their ability to go the distance, minimise down time and maximise convenience,” he said.

“With Easy Life servicing, we’re improving the value equation even further and providing owners with the data they need to calculate running costs for up to five years.”

Meanwhile, Renault Australia is offering a five-year/200,000km warranty (up from three-year/unlimited-km) for all new LCVs to ensure it provides the “best possible deal” – but only until August 31.
