Renault Australia has confirmed the all-new Symbioz small SUV for Australia, due in the second half of 2026 with a choice of mild-hybrid and hybrid powertrains, the latter of which will bring a claimed driving range of up to 1000km.

The Renault Symbioz introduces an all-new nameplate to Australia as part of the brand’s broader product overhaul and will target the highly competitive small SUV segment when it arrives in the second half of the year.
Measuring up at 4412mm long, 1797mm wide and 1567mm tall, the Symbioz sits at the larger end of the small SUV category, with a 2639mm wheelbase underpinning its cabin space and practicality.
The entry-level mild-hybrid will come powered by a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 104kW/245Nm and paired with a seven-speed ‘EDC’ dual-clutch.
Meanwhile, the hybrid combines an 80kW/107Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 36kW/205Nm e-motor and a 1.4kWh battery pack, which Renault says can deliver up to 1000km of driving range based on WLTP testing.
In urban settings, the Symbioz hybrid is said to run on electric-only power during initial acceleration up to 60km/h, which Renault says reduces fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent in stop-start conditions, while energy recuperation during braking and coasting further boosts efficiency.

Standard equipment includes a 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, while premium touches include a Harman/Kardon sound system and a panoramic glass roof, which uses polymer dispersed liquid crystal technology to adjust opacity on demand.
A sliding rear seat allowing owners to balance passenger space and boot capacity depending on their needs, meanwhile the Symbioz brings the promise of ‘European handling’ and well-calibrated safety systems.
Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey said the new model will broaden the brand’s appeal locally.
“The new Renault Symbioz delivers European design, European handling, and excellent fuel economy in a roomy, comfortable package,” said Sealey.
“We know not everyone wants to drive a ‘same-same’ SUV and we know this car will earn its place in this market.”
The Symbioz forms part of the French brand’s plan to introduce six new models over the next 18 months, signalling a significant revitalisation for the brand locally.
Arriving in the second half of 2026, pricing and full specification details for the new hybrid SUV range will be revealed closer to its launch.
