The award-winning new 2022 Kia Sportage line-up has almost arrived Down Under in its entirety, with the mid-range SX variant now lobbing into showrooms and the final SX+ grade arriving shortly after.
Base S and top-spec GT-Line versions of the all-new mid-size SUV went on sale in Australia last month, however, the fifth-generation Kia Sporatge line-up won’t be complete until the SX+ arrive in January 2022.
Priced from $35,000 before on-road costs, the SX sits a rung above the entry-level front-wheel drive Sportage S (from $32,445 plus ORCs) and is available with either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (mated to a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual) or a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine (auto-only).
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch central touch-screen and dual-zone climate control.
Meanwhile, the second-from-the-top SX+, which ranges in price from $41,500 to $46,900 plus ORCs, will join the range early next year with three petrol and diesel engine options.
It adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with push-button start, heated front seats, artificial leather upholstery, power tailgate and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system among other items.
SX+ grades are an auto-only affair, but whether you get a torque converter automatic or the seven-speed dual-clutch unit depends on which motor you go for.
