Morgan’s chief designer, Jonathan Wells, has tweeted three new images of the new pure-electric 3 Wheeler he designed ahead of its official launch at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Powered by a single rear-mounted 75kW electric motor, the new electric Morgan is said to weigh less than 450kg and cover up to 250km between charges.
Significantly quicker than the less powerful petrol 2.0-litre V-twin version, the new electric 3 Wheeler is expected to sprint to 100km/h in less than six seconds and have a top speed approaching 200km/h.
To help keep it stable at higher speeds the new EV3 will have a more aerodynamic body, while it will also be lighter in weight and fitted with narrower front tyres with more slippery fairings that significantly cut drag.
The electric 3 Wheeler is expected to enter production as soon as 2016, but only after working prototypes have undergone thorough testing and development, says the British car-maker.
