More value-added models from Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi is serving up a new trio of value-packed models to draw buyers into dealer showrooms. The Lancer, ASX and Outlander ACTiV models are rolled out fresh from the conclusion of Mitsubishi's previous retail incentive program, comprising limited edition 'Platinum' models of Lancer, ASX, Outlander and Pajero.

“ACTiV variants offer all the style, comfort and safety features you expect from a Mitsubishi with a number of extras, making them outstanding value,” said the company's vice-president of sales, Anthony Casey, quoted in a press release issued today.

Both the ASX and Outlander are due for replacement this year (the ASX will be a facelift only, but the Outlander will be a new model altogether). Consequently, the limited edition models underscore a runout of sorts. The Lancer is not due for replacement until the first half of next year, although the small car was recently upgraded, so the Lancer ACTiV is aimed much more at keeping interest alive in the current model while the company awaits the all-new model.

For the Lancer ACTiV, which is based on the entry-level Lancer ES and available in both sedan and Sportback styles, the added kit consists of voice recognition/Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, a leather-bound steering wheel, a Ralliart front bumper and grille, 16-inch alloy wheels, side air dams and chrome muffler tip, with a spoiler for the sedan (already standard on the ES Sportback). Buyers can choose either manual or CVT and the colours available are: White Solid, Cool Silver, Black, Titanium, Warm Silver, Red, Lightning Blue and Orange Burst. Driveaway pricing (inclusive of on-road costs) is $21,888 for the manual with premium paint, versus $21,690 for the ES manual before the on-roads and without the premium paint option.

Mitsubishi is limiting the ASX ACTiV to 400 units only. The limited edition compact SUV is based on the two-wheel drive model, but with privacy glass, Bluetooth 2.0, multi-function steering wheel for Bluetooth/audio, 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome muffler tip and body kit, featuring front and rear air dams and front bumper cover. Colours on offer are: White, Cool Silver, Black, Titanium and Kingfisher Blue.

Like the Lancer, the ASX ACTiV is available with a choice of manual transmission or CVT and the price is $27,990, driveaway (with premium paint included). The price for the standard ASX front-wheel drive with manual transmission and before on-road costs is $25,990.

The final ACTiV edition is the Outlander version. Priced at $28,990 driveaway (manual 4x2 with premium paint added), the Outlander ACTiV compares favourably with the standard Outlander LS 4x2 manual, at $29,340. Additional features include chrome door handles, silver finish for the centre console and door trim accents, 18-inch alloy wheels, full-size 18-inch spare, chrome muffler tip, front fog lights, reverse parking sensors, side/curtain airbags (standard on 4WD models) and Bluetooth 2.0 with steering wheel controls. Mitsubishi has made the ACTiV limited edition models available in five-seat configuration with the choice of two or four-wheel drive and manual or CVT. Sapphire Blue, Ironbark, Cool Silver, Black, Effect Grey, Red and White are the colours available to order.

All three limited edition models are covered by Mitsubishi's five-year/130,000km warranty (10-year/160,000km drivetrain warranty, not transferrable), roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty and capped-price servicing for the first four years or 60,000km of ownership.
