Morgan to reveal fast Plus 4 Cosworth

Eccentric car-maker to reveal 170kW Cosworth version of the Plus 4 to elaborate motorsport involvement

Morgan Cars has announced it will commemorate 65 years of the Plus 4 participating in motorsport by launching a special Cosworth-tuned version of its roadster.

Called the AR Plus 4, after the car-maker's racing division AR Motorsport, the car will be revealed in full tomorrow, but the limited run of 50 cars is expected to be powered by a 170kW 2.0-litre engine built by former F1 engine builder Cosworth.

This makes it the fastest 2.0-litre Morgan in the history of the firm.

The AR Plus 4 is also said to come with every performance upgrade available from AR Motorsport, making the racer-for-the-road an unusual, left-field choice to cars like the Caterham 7 and Ariel Atom.

Pricing for the 50 special-edition roadsters is expected to be announced tomorrow, when it’s revealed at an event at the Silverstone grand prix circuit.
