MY20 Mitsubishi Triton pricing revealed

More equipment and off-roading ability for Mitsubishi’s popular utility range

Pricing and specification information has been released for the 2020 Mitsubishi Triton ute, which goes on sale on October 1.

The Japanese marque has sharpened equipment levels for the Triton, which underwent a significant facelift at the beginning of this year and remains Australia’s third best selling ute.

As before, the popular utility is available in three different configurations – Single Cab, Club Cab and Dual Cab – and across numerous grades (GLX, GLX+, GLS and GLS Premium). All told, there are 22 different grades to choose from.

All variants save for the entry Single Cab employ a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder good for 133kW and 400Nm, sending drive to either the rear wheels or all four wheels via six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

Pricing for the Single Cab remains unchanged at $22,490 (plus on-road costs), as do diesel Club Cab ($35,490 plus ORCs) and diesel Dual Cab variants ($36,290 plus ORCs).

The Triton’s positioning helps it maintain a competitive pricing advantage over the likes of the more popular Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

For prospective dual-cab buyers, the MY20 changes are solely concentrated on GLX+ variants and above in the line-up, and coincide with a price increase of between $500 and $1000.

The GLX+ now starts a$40,990 in manual guise and $43,490 in automatic, but brings the inclusion of a rear air circulator (a ceiling-mounted fan that pushes air from the front of the cabin to the rear, mimicking rear air-vents) and a rear differential lock as standard (previously limited to GLS Premium).

In the case of the GLX+, those changes arrive over and above existing features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, fabric seat trim, single-zone climate control, 7.0-inch touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, two USB ports, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.

The GLX+ model is equipped with Easy-Select 4WD, allowing easy switching between 2WD and 4WD modes and offers 2H, 4H and 4L transfer case settings.

Safety is well sorted in the GLX+ model, with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, two ISOFIX child seat anchorages in the rear seat, along with front and rear airbag coverage.

The GLS grade ($45,140, +$500) adds features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, chrome door handles, carpet floors, LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), two additional USB ports (rear seat) and a six-speaker stereo system.

There are additional safety features as well, including blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, automatic high beam and hill descent control.

Sitting atop the line-up is the new Toby Price Edition ($50,640) and GLS Premium variants ($51,990). The latter adds equipment including a black nudge bar, tubular black sports bar and plastic tub liner.

GLS, Toby Price and GLS Premium models are equipped with Super-Select 4WD-II offers 2H (rear-wheel drive), 4H (full-time 4WD), 4HLc (lock up) and 4LLc (lock up in low gear) modes to deliver optimum traction and handling characteristics for all surfaces. The Super-Select II program also offers configurable driving modes off-road.

All Triton dual-cab models come equipped with a 3.1-tonne braked towing capacity and a payload capacity of between 850kg and 945kg depending on variant and transmission.

The Triton range is backed by a seven-year, unlimited kilometre factory warranty until December 31, and is offered with a three-year, 45,000km capped-price servicing program that amounts to $897 (or $299 per 12-month/15,000km service).
