The Nissan X-TRAIL has come in for a final tech upgrade before it’s replaced by an all-new model next year, bringing improved infotainment and price increases across the range.
Key changes for Australia’s fourth best-selling mid-size SUV include the additions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as part of a new infotainment system that also brings a new 7.0-inch touch-screen with updated graphics, voice recognition and DAB+ digital radio as standard.
Also new from ST-L level upwards is Intelligent Driving Alert, which monitors and alerts the driver when it deems it’s time to take a break, while ST-L variants also gain new 18-inch alloy wheels.

Perhaps the biggest change for the MY21 Nissan X-TRAIL are price rises across a slimmed-down range that does away with the N-SPORT, N-TREK and TL diesel flagship variants but still comprises three engines, four equipment grades, front-drive and AWD configurations and both five- and seven-seat layouts.
Entry to the X-TRAIL range now costs $625 more, with the base ST 2WD manual priced at $30,665 plus on-road costs (previously $30,040), and there are similar price hikes for the ST 2WD auto ($32,665 plus ORCs), ST 2WD seven-seat auto ($34,265), ST-L 2WD auto ($38,525) and ST-L 2WD seven-seat auto ($40,125).
All-wheel drive pricing now opens at $34,665 plus ORCs for the ST AWD auto (previously $34,040), while the ST-L AWD auto costs $40,525, the Ti AWD auto is $45,965 and the sole diesel model – the TS AWD auto – is now priced at $37,465.

The entry-level ST 2WD six-speed manual continues to be powered by a 106kW/200Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (8.2L/100km), the 126kW/226Nm 2.5-litre engine (7.9L/100km) also carries over in core variants, and the TS AWD diesel sticks with its 130kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (6.0L/100km).
Nissan’s Xtronic CVT auto with manual mode (MCVT) remains standard in all AWD models.
