New 2023 Maserati GranTurismo cabin revealed
Incoming next-generation fast Maserati coupe to get plenty of tech from Grecale SUVThe all-new 2023 Maserati GranTurismo was uncovered back in October last year, but up until now the two-door sports-luxury coupe’s cabin has been kept under wraps.
Posting interior images on its media site with little fanfare, the Italian marque has shown that the new Maserati GranTurismo – which is set to land in Australia in the final quarter of 2023 – has made a huge step forward over the previous coupe sold from 2007-2019.
Most notably, the dash is dominated by a centre stack that looks near identical to the Maserati Grecale SUV, with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen sitting above another 8.8-inch touch-screen that manages the climate control.
Above both is the car-maker’s trademark carriage clock – except, like the Grecale, it features a digital face.
The simple three-spoke steering wheel is also shared with the Grecale and incorporates both the start-stop button and a rotary mannettino for selecting from the five driving modes available.
Like the Grecale, each cabin is themed according to the trim level.
The classic Modena finish blends traditional beige and black leather with a wood finish for the dash, while the sportier Trofeo combines black trim with red stitching and shuns timber for carbon-fibre.
The all-electric Folgore, meanwhile, goes for a more contemporary look with blue and white hues.
Despite its typical 2+2 seating arrangement, Maserati claims the GranTurismo can carry two adults comfortably in the rear.
Looking more comfort-orientated than offering ultimate support on track, the four seats all have head restraints with the brand’s famous trident logo.
Another three-pronged fork has also been stamped on the side of the dash with ‘Since 1914’ lettering, hinting at the car-maker’s founding. There are also small Italian flags on the vents.
Other images show off the GranTurismo’s new 1195W sound system that includes 19 speakers.
Sitting on a bespoke new platform, the GranTurismo will come with the option of either a twin-turbo V6 from the Maserati MC20 supercar or an all-new tri-motor all-electric powertrain.
It’s the latter that’s set to attract the most attention. The flagship Folgore EV produces 610kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
Against the clock the battery-powered Maserati sprints from 0-100km/h in a devastating 2.7sec, while 0-200km/h is done and dusted in 8.8sec and the top speed is 320km/h.
Not bad for a coupe with a 450km driving range (WLTP). Even charging doesn’t let the side down thanks to 270kW DC fast-charging capability.
According to Maserati, up to 100km can be added in just five minutes, while a 20-80 per cent top-up takes just 18 minutes.
Pricing and full specification has yet to be released, but it’s believed the 2023 Maserati GranTurismo will kick off somewhere around $350,000.
The Folgore EV is more likely to weigh in at around $500,000.
