Toyota Australia has revealed a catalogue of new off-road and load carrying accessories for the new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.
Following extended production delays in Japan since late August, about 500 examples of the new LandCruiser are now in the country but all of them are being reserved for dealer demonstration and press purposes.
With production for Australia not resuming until at least November, first local deliveries are unlikely to take place until early 2022 and new orders are unlikely to be filled until the second half of next year.
Despite that and even after increasing base drive-away pricing to almost $100,000, Toyota expects big demand for genuine and aftermarket accessories for the new 300 Series.
Headlining the extended accessories catalogue, which focusses on go-anywhere capability, is a new bullbar design available in polished alloy, black steel or body-coloured steel.
Toyota says it offers a steeper approach angle of 28.5 degrees, helping improve the LandCruiser’s rock-climbing ability, while also integrating with existing crash safety systems, parking sensors and off-road software.
“Work on the new LandCruiser’s bullbar range began in 2015, with engineers testing the new accessories extensively with a focus on weld strength, environment and temperature testing and regulation compliance,” said Toyota.
“Thermal management was a major point of focus in the development of the new bullbar range, due to the placement of the LandCruiser’s twin intercoolers on either side of the front bumper… ensuring cooling and durability performance.”
The new LandCruiser bullbars incorporate a 5mm underbody bash plate and new off-road recovery points with an 8.0-tonne rating. There is also the option of integrating a circa 4.0-tonne rated Warn 2 genuine winch – the same fitted to the existing LandCruiser 70 Series and HiLux.
The new Toyota LandCruiser is also available with a genuine 120-Watt LED lightbar that integrates into a slot within the bullbar, packaging 24 individual diodes.
The lightbar has purportedly been UV tested to withstand the Australian sun, while a new breather cap improves water/oil/dust resistance and reduces the stress on the bar’s seals when crossing water.
A range of Australian-designed roof racks have also been modified for the 300 Series. The entry-level GX can be fitted with a three-bar rack featuring a new mounting block with fewer components for easier installation, while GXL and all other variants can be had with roof rails that can accept a newly designed roof tray.
The roof racks were designed in Australia and tested at speeds of up to 180km/h. Genuine Toyota bike and ski holders will also carry over to the 300 Series range.
The parts, like the LandCruiser 300 Series itself, are said to have been extensively tested in Australian conditions.
Toyota Australia took a lead role in the engineering and development of the 300 Series, with testing commencing as early as 2015 and encompassing thousands of kilometres.
