New BMW XM 50e SUV revealed
Entry-level SUV variant swaps twin-turbo V8 for electrified inline six offering 350kW of power and 84km of EV rangeBMW M has announced the new 2024 BMW XM 50e, a new entry-level variant of its flagship SUV that will slot beneath the unhinged 550kW XM Label Red.
Trading the XM Label Red’s twin-turbo 4.4-litre petrol V8 for a smaller twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, the XM 50e will still muster 350kW of power and produce as much as 700Nm of torque.
Combined with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto that incorporates an electric motor in a hybrid powertrain developed by BMW M, the new entry-level XM is said to be capable of a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 5.1 seconds.
Thanks to its undisclosed battery, on a full charge BMW M says the XM 50e is capable of covering up to 84km on pure-electric power alone, averaging around 1.4L/100km on the WLTP test cycle.
Sitting on huge 23-inch rims, the vehicle used to showcase the new XM 50e variant has been painted in a special-order BMW Individual finish – one of an extra 50 optional paint alternatives to the standard colour palette, allowing buyers a wide range of personalisation.
As standard, the XM 50e gets the same four-element ultra-slimline headlight treatment flanking a huge illuminated kidney grille as other XM variants.
More details of the 2024 BMW XM 50e are expected following the XM Label Red’s debut at the Shanghai motor show on April 18.
