Citroen Australia has confirmed the all-new Citroen C4 will arrive Down Under in a single well-equipped specification from November.
First revealed in June 2020 and then confirmed for Australia in October 2020, the new-generation SUV-style Citroen C4 effectively replaces the short-lived C4 Cactus sold in Australia between 2016 and 2019.
Pricing is yet to be announced and the all-electric e-C4 won’t be coming Down Under, where the new C4 will join the light-size C3 hatch and mid-size C5 Aircross SUV in a three-model Citroen Australia range for 2022.
Citroen Australia says the single new C4 variant, which brings a new design language for the French brand, is designed to meet the expectations of Citroen customers and “has all the qualities needed to shake up the standards of its [small SUV] segment”.
“We’re delighted to be expanding the Citroen range in Australia and the C4 is the perfect addition,” said Citroen Australia general manager Kate Gillis.
“The versatility, unrivalled comfort and original design of the Citroen C4 will no doubt appeal to the discerning Australian consumer.”
Citroen says the new C4 is designed around its Advanced Comfort philosophy to focus on the wellbeing of all occupants through driving comfort, living comfort, comfort of mind and comfort of use.
To that end it blends suspension, seating and acoustic technologies to make the driving experience feel like being in a cocoon, practical storage solutions, the prioritisation of useful information, light and soft interior materials, and intuitive digital assistance features.
Among 18 standard driver aids will be autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind spot monitoring
active lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, driver attention alert, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, colour head-up display, reversing camera with top rear vision and 360-degree vision.
Other notable technologies include suspension with ‘progressive hydraulic cushions’ to deliver a claimed “magic carpet ride” and ‘advanced comfort seats’ with high-density material and 15mm-thick foam.
For Australia, the 2022 Citroen C4 will be powered exclusively by a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine producing 114kW of power and 240Nm of torque, matched only with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Stand by for pricing before the new Citroen C4 arrives in Australian showrooms in November.
