The multi-award winning Discovery 4 will become even more desirable this November when it receives standard Bluetooth connectivity, revised satellite navigation systems and a trio of updated audio packages.
Building on the success of the current model, the 2012 Land Rover Discovery 4 will still be powered by the current engine offerings -- a 2.7-litre TDV6, 3.0-litre SDV6 or 5.0-litre V8, all of which are mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission – but will benefit from revised technology, new alloy wheel designs and a pair of new option packages.
The new audio and navigation systems, based on Land Rover's MOST Gen 2.1 electrical architecture, see the entry-level eight-speaker audio system upgraded to include a colour touchscreen, Bluetooth telephony and USB/iPod connectivity.
The mid-spec Hi-ICE Harman Kardon system has been upgraded from nine to 11 speakers and the output boosted from 240 watts to 380, while the premium Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 system delivers 825 watts of sound through 17 speakers and also features voice control.
Rear seat entertainment is offered via WhiteFire wireless technology and navigation is available in two levels: Base and Premium, with the latter enhanced with voice activation.
Two new option packs are also offered.
The Technology Pack includes offroad navigation, voice recognition, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera while the Vision Assist Pack offers automatic xenon headlamps with cornering function, high-beam assist, surround camera system, approach lamps, and tow assist and tow hitch assist systems.
Visually, and in addition to the new alloy wheel designs, the new Discovery 4 is identified by new steering wheel column stalks with chrome bezels, a new 'pebble-like' key design and, optionally, satin black roof rails.
Deliveries of the MY12 Land Rover Discovery 4 will commence from November this year. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
