
GranTurismo by name and nature, Maserati's latest automotive masterpiece will be debuted at the Geneva motor show next month. The four-place V8-engined grand touring coupe will get its first showing at the prestigious motor show ,ahead of its worldwide release later this year and its arrival Down Under early in 2008.
Styled by Pininfarina, the new Maserati GranTurismo will be the marque's new flagship. It sits above the exisiting GranSport and Spyder 2+2s as well as Maserati's S-Class/7 Series rivalling Quattroporte sedan.
The GT's 4.2-litre Ferrari-based V8 engine delivers 303kW so performance should be prodigious. Weight distribution is aided by transaxle-style rear-mounted gearbox. For the record that gearbox is also automated, F1-style.
Says the Italian marque, the new car's model name -- Maserati GranTurismo -- is of particular significance, as it references the past partnership of Maserati and Pininfarina.
