New Ford Territory will find most economical route

Save time or save the planet? That's the question Australian motorists will soon be facing.
 
Ford has revealed one last fuel economy trick up the new Territory's sleeve – it is available with a navigation system that will give customers the choice of getting to their destination more quickly or efficiently.
 
In what is believed to be an industry first, the navigation system will even forecast how much fuel the car will average on the plotted journey.

The announcement was made at the launch of the new Ford Territory in Canberra this morning. Following briefings earlier this year, the media will finally be allowed behind the wheel for the first time today.
 
"This car is all about saving families money and making their lives easier," said engineering director for Ford Asia Pacific, Jim Baumbick.
 
Another welcome development: the navigation system allows drivers to search their destination by street if the suburb is unknown or if the address borders two suburbs.
 
As reported earlier, the Territory is available with a diesel engine for the first time in seven years.
 
The diesel model can travel more than 1000km on a single tank and its towing capacity has increased from 2300kg for the petrol model to 2700kg for the diesel model.
 
The company also announced pricing, which confirms the prices exclusively revealed by the Carsales Network last month:
