Holden has placed the final piece of its Astra puzzle, announcing pricing and specification for the Astra Sportwagon ahead of its October rollout.
Hailing from the UK, the Sportwagon joins the existing Astra hatch, from Poland, and Astra sedan, from Korea. It is also the 13th of 24 new Holden models promised to launch in Australia between 2015 and 2020.
The two-tier Sportwagon range is priced from $25,740 (plus on-road costs) for the entry-model LS+, topping out at the $29,940 (plus on-road costs) for the flagship LT. Those prices represent a $5000 hike over the entry-level sedan, and a $3000 premium over the hatch.
Both Sportwagon models are powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four developing 110kW/240Nm, mated solely to a six-speed automatic. Holden has out left the hatch’s uprated 147kW four-pot from the Sportwagon line-up.
Standard equipment in the LS+ includes 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, 7.0-inch touch-screen, six-speaker audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio and Bluetooth.
The higher-spec LT adopts 17-inch alloys, leather trim, power tailgate, keyless entry and start, climate control, satellite-navigation, 8.0-inch touch-screen, blind-spot monitoring and automated park assist.
On the safety front both Astra Sportwagon models feature a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking and lane keeping assist.
The Sportwagon arrives in showrooms in October.
