New Honda CR-V and ZR-V variants add crucial safety gear

Rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring added to mid-size Honda SUVs via new variants

Honda Australia has bolstered its local mid-size SUV line-up with the addition of two new Honda ZR-V grades and one new Honda CR-V variant for the 2024 model year, each bringing two key new safety features to their respective model lines.

The new ZR-V variants in question are the 2024 Honda ZR-V VTi X+ (priced at $39,900 drive-away) and the 2024 Honda ZR-V VTi L+ ($42,900 drive-away), while the new CR-V variant is the 2024 Honda CR-V VTi X+ ($44,700 drive-away).

The ZR-Vs carry a $400 premium over their respective (non-+) donor vehicles, while the CR-V’s price is inflated by $800 – the extra cash garnering blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert as standard.

The introduction of these variants comes just a week after the European CR-V was awarded a four-star Euro NCAP safety rating due to its lack of standard safety tech, a rating that was bumped up to five stars when tested with the ‘safety pack’ fitted.

A quick look at the spec sheet revealed the standard models are fitted with the Honda Sensing safety suite as opposed to the Honda Sensing 360 suite offered for the safety pack versions.

No other changes have been made to the local ZR-V or CR-V portfolios for MY24, nor have there been any price adjustments, with the regular ZR-V VTi X coming with 17-inch alloys, fabric upholstery, a 9.0-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, digital radio, an eight-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control and adaptive cruise control.

The VTi L adds 18-inch wheels, faux leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats and ambient roof lighting.

The CR-V VTi X, meantime, is headlined by 17-inch alloys, cloth upholstery, a 9.0-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, digital radio, an eight-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control and adaptive cruise control.
