New Land Rover Defender joins cast of latest James Bond film, No Time To Die
Land Rover has posted a teaser video from behind the scenes of the latest 007 film showing it’s new Defender being put through its paces.No Time To Die will be the 25th James Bond film to hit screens and if this teaser is anything to go by, the car chases and stunts will be exactly what you’d expect from the long running series.
The behind the scenes video shows stunt driver Jess Hawkins at work and really giving the new Defender a baptism of fire into the world of being an official Bond car. Lee Morrison, James Bond Stunt Co-ordinator says that the expert stunt team put the vehicle through some of the most extreme off-road conditions.
"Designing and co-ordinating the action sequences for the Bond franchise requires a non-compromising mindset. We needed an unstoppable vehicle to help us battle against the elements, steep descents and river crossings so we chose the new Defender. I'm beyond impressed that the Defender is not only back but much, much better!"
Land Rover’s design team and 007 Special Effects and Action Vehicles Supervisor, Chris Corbould worked closely to finesse the look of the vehicle so it would fit perfectly into the iconic film series. For No Time To Die, the Bond car will be based on the Defender X model in Santorini Black, with darkened skid pans, 20-inch dark finish wheels and professional off-road tyres.
Land Rover has been long associated with EON Productions, the team behind the Bond films, with the partnership starting in 1983 when a Range Rover Convertible appeared in Octopussy.
Alongside the Defenders, a Range Rover Sport SVR, Series III Land Rover and Range Rover Classic will feature throughout the new film when Daniel Craig returns for his fifth and final outing as James Bond.
The No Time To Die will be released globally in cinemas from April 2020.
